The submission period is now open for in-person presentations at the XIII Fundus Conference. This call is addressed to researchers interested in the livestock economy of the Roman period, in a broad sense and without geographical limitations, taking villas and other rural settlements as the basis for study.

Fundus. International Journal on the Rural World in the Roman Period is an open-access, peer-reviewed and continued publication journal, which publishes original work focusing on the rural world in the Roman period in any of its thematic or geographical areas. Multiple or redundant posting in relation to other previously published articles is not permitted. 

Its publishers are: Ajuntament de Banyoles, Museu Arqueològic de Banyoles,  Universitat de Girona-Laboratori d'Arqueologia, Història Antiga i Prehistòria-Institut de Recerca Històrica, Grup de Recerca Arqueològica del Pla de l'Estany and  Documenta Universitaria. The Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour and the UMR 5140 Archéologie des sociétés méditerranéennes, Montpellier, are collaborating.

It was created in 2023 with the aim of providing all those people who carry out scientific research focused on the rural world in the Roman period, a space in which to publish their work with international projection.

  • Open access, free and without publication costs for authors or their institutions.
  • Continued publication, once a manuscript is reviewed and accepted it is published without waiting at the end of the year for the journal to close.
