Studies on the Rural World in the Roman Period was first published in 2006 and continued as a monographic series until 2017. In 2019, it became an academic journal, to be published annually.
The objective of the journal is to publish original works that focus on the rural world of the Roman period. Each issue contains a dossier dedicated to a specific aspect of this line of research. However, other contributions outside the thematic scope of the dossier are also included, providing they involve the study of the rural world in Roman times.
The tenth issue of the magazine addresses the problem of heating in Roman villas. The authors contributing to the discussion have analyzed the various responses to the problem and also the reasons why different solutions were employed: for reasons of climate in some cases, while in others, there were also social and cultural considerations.
